Man Wanted for Attempted Murder Arrested; Guns and Drugs Recovered

Specialized Investigations Division detectives were on the lookout for Albin Avdiu who was wanted on outstanding warrants related to the August 5 shooting at 2517 Edge O Lake Drive when they spotted him yesterday driving on Kendall Park Drive. They followed him to the 2500 block of Murfreesboro Pike where he parked and conducted what appeared to be hand to hand drug transactions. Once enough backup resources arrived, officers activated their emergency equipment and Avdiu drove off eluding capture. Spike strips were successfully deployed. A police helicopter followed Avdiu until he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked car on Lakeville Drive. He drove further before he stopped and ran from his vehicle into a backyard on Griggs Place where he was taken into custody.

Recovered from Avdiu's car were 4.7 grams of blue powder that tested positive for fentanyl, approximately 800-900 pills which also tested positive for fentanyl, various other pills, and a loaded handgun.

Detectives then executed a search warrant at Avdiu's residence on Kendall Park Drive where they recovered two rifles, numerous loaded magazines, a money counter, and $7,210.50 cash.

Avdiu is charged with attempted murder and reckless endangerment in relation to the Edge O Lake shooting of a 30-year-old Nashville man. Additional charges from yesterday include felony drug possession, evading arrest, and gun possession during the commission of a felony. He is jailed on $385,000 bond.
