June Local Employment and Unemployment Data Released

MADISON - The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development today released U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates of employment and unemployment statistics for metropolitan areas, major cities, and counties in Wisconsin for June 2024.

In brief, the nonseasonally adjusted data for Wisconsin shows:

• Metropolitan Statistical Areas: Preliminary June 2024 unemployment rates increased in all 12 areas over the month; rates decreased or stayed the same in all 12 areas over the year.
• Municipalities: Preliminary June 2024 unemployment rates increased in all 35 cities over the month; rates decreased or stayed the same in 31 cities over the year.
• Counties: Preliminary June 2024 unemployment rates decreased or stayed the same in nine counties over the month; rates decreased or stayed the same in 67 counties over the year.
