CHANDLER, Ariz. - Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke has been named president of the Arizona League of Cities and Towns Executive Committee. He will serve a two-year term to lead the 25-member executive committee, consisting of mayors representing cities across Arizona, that governs the League's activities.

Members of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns selected new officers and members of its executive committee during the organization's annual conference held in Phoenix last week. Superior Mayor Mila Besich was named vice president and Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers was named treasurer. Hartke served as the League's executive committee vice president for the past two years.

"I am passionate about the work the League performs on behalf of Arizona's cities and towns," Mayor Hartke said. "As we work with the Governor and Legislature, we will continue to collaborate with state lawmakers and stakeholders to address key issues facing our communities, including housing, infrastructure and water."

Hartke also will represent the League on the Arizona Commerce Authority Board of Director. He continues to serve as Chair of the Maricopa Association of Governments Regional Council and as a board member of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. Hartke also represents Chandler on the United States Conference of Mayors Technology and Innovation Committee and Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) Implementation Task Force.

Hartke is currently serving his second four-year term as Mayor of Chandler. He previously served on the City Council for nine years, including twice as Vice Mayor in 2015 and 2017.
