Marin County - Caltrans is scheduled to perform shoulder widening, planting and curb ramp work on State Route 1 (Shoreline Highway) Capital Preventative Maintenance Project the week of July 29.

Intermittent one-way traffic control is scheduled for shoulder widening in Olema from Tuesday, July 30 through Friday, Aug. 2 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.

Intermittent one-way traffic control is scheduled for planting work in Tomales near Valley Ford Road from Monday, July 29 to Friday, Aug. 2 during the same hours.

A traffic shift will be utilized in Point Reyes Station between the same days and hours. Parking spots for businesses will be affected.

Culvert work for the project has been completed.

Changeable Message signs will be put up in the areas to remind residents about the construction.

This overall project will repair segments of SR-1 and will include cycling and pedestrian upgrades. The project is slated to make improvements during a nearly 14-mile stretch from Olema through Point Reyes Station and from Tomales to the county line.

The upgrades include pavement resurfacing and repairs; restriping; culvert replacements to improve drainage; shoulder widening to help cyclists; guardrail, crosswalk, and signage upgrades; new signage; and sidewalk and path upgrades to meet disability access standards and improve access to West Marin-Inverness School in Point Reyes Station.

The completion timeline for the project is Summer 2025. All work is dependent on weather.

Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.
