On September 9, 2024, New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative in Delaware County.

Two business were found not in compliance and the clerk sold alcohol to an underage operative:

  • Speedway - State Highway 28, Margaretville
  • Margaretville Wine & Liquor - State Highway 28, Arkville

Both employees from those locations were charged with Prohibited Sale Alcohol to Person Less Than 21 (ABC 065-A), a violation.

Nine businesses were in compliance and did not sell any alcohol to an underage operative:

  • Stewart's Shops - Lake Street, Stamford
  • Sunoco - Harper Street, Stamford
  • Sunoco - Route 23 & 30, Grand Gorge
  • Roxbury Wine & Spirits - State Highway 30, Roxbury
  • Sunoco - State Highway 30, Roxbury
  • Sunoco - Main Street, Margaretville
  • Margaretville Liquor Store - Main St, Margaretville
  • A&R Country Store - State Highway 28, Arkville
  • It's Five O'Clock Somewhere - Main St, Stamford, NY

During these investigations, businesses are checked utilizing a Trooper in plain clothes and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or provide a false date of birth (if asked).
