Commonwealth University-Lock Haven alumnus Justin Loudon '12 was recently named the 2024 High School Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). This prestigious accolade is part of the NSCA's annual Peer Awards, which honor professionals worldwide for outstanding achievements in their field. The recipients, nominated by the NSCA community, will be formally recognized at the 2024 NSCA National Conference in Baltimore from July 10-13.

Loudon, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC), is in his 10th year in education, having begun his career as a health and physical education teacher before transitioning to strength and conditioning.

He serves as the head strength and conditioning coach at Ezell-Harding Christian School in Antioch, Tennessee, where he oversees the training of all sports teams and implements a standards-based curriculum for students from seventh through 12th grade. This curriculum is designed to foster physical literacy through a long-term athletic development approach, guiding students to reach their full potential.

A native of Harrisburg, Loudon earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Lock Haven. His passion for his work is evident in the positive impact he has on students, athletes and strength and conditioning peers in the industry.

"We are incredibly proud of Justin's accomplishments and his dedication to excellence in high school strength and conditioning," said Ashley Conrad, CU-Lock Haven's director of alumni and employer engagement. "His recognition by the NSCA is a testament to his hard work and commitment to fostering the development of young athletes."

"It also exemplifies the world-class education students receive from our wonderful health and physical education faculty at CU-Lock Haven," she added.
