Call for Participants: Health Communication Seminar

Seton Hall's Academy for Health Communication Innovation (AHCI) invites full-time faculty members to participate in the Health Communication Collaboration Faculty Seminar for Spring 2025. This seminar aims to explore the multifaceted and multidisciplinary field of health communication, offering a unique opportunity for scholars to engage in collaborative research, develop innovative courses and create impactful media artifacts.

Health communication encompasses a diverse range of activities aimed at improving public health outcomes by reaching various populations with health-related information, ideas, and methods. It involves empowering individuals, communities, healthcare professionals, patients, policymakers, organizations, and special groups to adopt or sustain health practices and policies. This seminar leverages Seton Hall's rich collaborative environment, spanning eight schools and colleges, to enhance scholarship and practical applications in this critical field.

Participants in the seminar will:

  1. Learn about health communication and its major theoretical frameworks.
  2. Explore collaborative opportunities in research and scholarship.
  3. Enhance higher education curricula and teaching approaches.
  4. Develop new courses, research projects, or media artifacts.

The seminar will consist of seven two-hour sessions, co-facilitated by Madison Krall, Ph.D., and Ruth Tsuria, Ph.D., from the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media. Sessions will include introductions, in-depth discussions, brainstorming workshops, and online webinars with experts. The seminar will conclude with an in-person luncheon to celebrate achievements and discuss future opportunities.

Eligible participants must be full-time faculty members. The seminar will accommodate up to 12 individuals, with meetings held virtually to include faculty from all Seton Hall campuses. Sessions will take place biweekly starting the second week of the Spring 2025 semester, with the celebratory luncheon to be held in May.
