Blue Hill Ave Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of Firearm and Suspect’s Arrest

At 10:25 PM, on Monday, November 4th, 2024, Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) and the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit arrested 25-year-old Jaydell Pouriet, of Dedham, MA, for firearm related offenses during a traffic stop conducted at 883 Blue Hill Ave., Dorchester.

Officers were patrolling near Harvard St. and Blue Hill Ave. when they observed a vehicle being operated with revoked insurance. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and conducted a traffic stop near 883 Blue Hill Ave. As Officers approached, they observed four people inside the vehicle.

Officers conducted an investigation into the vehicle, its operator, identified as Pouriet, and the passengers, resulting in the recovery of a firearm hidden in a void inside the vehicle's center console. After further investigation, Pouriet was placed into custody and the firearm was recovered by YVSF Detectives.

Detectives determined the firearm to be a Kel-Tec P3AT containing five (5) live rounds of .380 ammunition loaded into the magazine.

Jaydell Pouriet was arrested and cited for motor vehicle violations. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Operating an Unregistered Motor vehicle, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
