Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure Announces Fitness Reviews of Judges Seeking a Recommendation for Initial Appointment or Reappointment as Senior Judges of the[...]

Judge Anthony C. Epstein, Judge Alfred S. Irving, Jr., Senior Judge Ronna L. Beck, and Senior Judge Lee F. Satterfield

This is to notify members of the Bar and the public that the Commission is reviewing the qualifications of the following judges of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia:

• Judge Anthony C. Epstein and Judge Alfred S. Irving, Jr. each have requested the Commission's recommendation for an initial appointment as a Senior Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon their retirement as Associate Judges on January 11, 2025 and March 21, 2025 respectively.
  
• Senior Judge Ronna L. Beck has requested the Commission's recommendation for reappointment as a Senior Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of her current term on January 16, 2025.
  
• Senior Judge Lee F. Satterfield has requested the Commission's recommendation for reappointment as a Senior Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of his current term on March 4, 2025.

The Commission invites members of the Bar, litigants, former jurors, interested organizations and members of the public to submit comments or any other information bearing on the performance and qualifications of Judge Epstein, Judge Irving, Judge Beck, and Judge Satterfield to continue their respective judicial service.

The cooperation of the community at an early stage will greatly aid the Commission in fulfilling its responsibilities. The identity of any person submitting materials will be kept confidential unless expressly authorized by the person submitting the information.

Comments for Judge Epstein and Judge Beck may be submitted by December 1, 2024.

Comments for Judge Satterfield and Judge Irving may be submitted by December 16, 2024.
