This holiday season, the ISBA is partnering with Iowa Homeless Youth Centers, a YSS (Youth Shelter Services) organization, to provide gifts to area youth in need of support. There are two ways for ISBA members like you to participate.
Via the Giving Tree: Soon you will see an ISBA Building Christmas tree on the main level which will have tags that list items requested by homeless youth during the holidays. Staff and ISBA members can take a tag(s) off the tree, purchase the requested item(s), and return it to the ISBA Building with the tag(s) attached. A sampling of the needed items includes bath towels, garbage bags, hygiene kits, and laundry detergent pods, just to name a few. This program will be available through Dec. 20.
Via Holiday Giving: Holiday Giving is when an Iowa Homeless Youth Center client makes a Christmas wish list. Think of it like Adopt-a-Youth or Adopt-a-Family. Items on the list can be for the Iowa Homeless Youth Center client or for their children as well if they have a family. Click here to learn about or register to participate in holiday giving to Iowa Homeless Youth Centers. Law firms may opt to collectively adopt people with wishlists. When you choose a profile to adopt for the holidays, there is a spot to input what organization or business you belong to. Please indicate that you are part of The Iowa State Bar Association and feel free to list your law firm name as well.
Whether you choose to participate as an individual or make this a firm-wide project, we hope you will join us in our goal of making a difference in the lives of young people.
