CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 28, 2024) - Charlotte County has closed two comfort station locations as of today:
One comfort station location remains open 8 a.m.-7 p.m. daily until further notice:
Showers, laundry facilities and restrooms are available at the Harold Avenue comfort station, providing residents with a safe space where they can take showers and do laundry as part of their recovery efforts. Bring your own supplies if you have them - detergent, soap, shampoo, towels.
Harold Avenue Regional Park Recreation Center is also open as a shortâterm shared living space for residents displaced from the storms. It is being operated by the American Red Cross. Cots, water and meals will be provided. Space is limited.
For those in need of transportation, Charlotte County Transit Services is offering rides to and from the comfort station. Residents can schedule a comfort station ride by calling Transit at 941-575-4000 from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
