Incredible Edible Knowsley is the latest organisation to benefit from Knowsley Council's Community Asset Transfer Scheme, which is aimed at encouraging community groups and organisations to take ownership of local facilities and run them for the benefit of local residents.

The transfer includes the walled garden area of Court Hey Park through a 27 year lease and management agreement.

Incredible Edible Knowsley is a well-established community organisation with a successful track record of supporting people to take part in volunteering opportunities focused on learning how to grow their own food but also providing a holistic approach to connecting with nature.

They also provide opportunities to meet other people, address social isolation and a food club also operates from the Court Hey Park site, giving the local community an opportunity to buy fresh fruit and vegetables grown on site as well as other groceries for a fraction of the cost in the supermarkets.

The organisation has been based at Court Hey Park since 2019, and their service is utilised and highly regarded by park users, the wider community and other partner organisations.

The Walled Garden Area of Court Hey Park is an area of the site with historic links to growing food, making Incredible Edible Knowsley a suitable organisation to take this area of the wider site forward.

This also aligns with the emerging Court Hey Park masterplan, an ambitious, transformative plan developed in consultation with local residents in 2023 and which will see the former National Wildflower Centre building on site demolished.

Community action day

Incredible Edible has organised a Community Action Day which will take place on Tuesday 18 June 2024 at Court Hey Park.

A time capsule will be buried so if you have a photo and message to share with future generations, please come along from 9.30am. The time capsule will be buried at 11am and then the community action day will follow.

If you can spare some time and want to improve your local area, come along. From weeding, planting and painting through to shed building, guttering the poly tunnels and clean-ups, there's lots to do and food and refreshments will also be provided.
