Minister Nikolov: Our Priorities Are Macroeconomic Stability and Investment Security

Bulgaria has announced its willingness to take part in the reconstruction efforts in Ukraine

Bulgaria has expressed its commitment to participate in Ukraine's reconstruction by offering economic, infrastructure, and humanitarian support. This was announced by the Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Petko Nikolov, at a forum titled "Securing the Future: Economic Stability, Defense, and Reconstruction of Ukraine." The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria. It was attended by the Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov, the Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria Yordanka Chobanova, former President of Bulgaria (2012-2017) Rosen Plevneliev, members of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria, and business sectors representatives.

Dr. Nikolov pointed out that Ukraine's post-war reconstruction will not only be a large-scale but also a complex undertaking that will require coordination and support from the entire international community. "Our goal is to be part of this effort," he said, adding that the challenges we face require a sustainable and integrated economic approach not only regionally, but also globally.

"Macroeconomic stability and investment security are our priority because the development of all other sectors depends on them," the Minister of Economy said. In his words, an adequate and balanced economic policy is the basis for creating sustainable growth, employment and social stability. "Today Bulgaria and the other countries in Europe are working together to create new economic opportunities, both through bilateral cooperation and through partnerships within the EU and NATO," Dr. Petko Nikolov added.

During the event, the Minister of Economy addressed three key topics: economic stability in the region, the modernization of our defense capabilities, and the reconstruction of Ukraine, which are within the focus of the organized conference.

Dr. Nikolov was adamant that the challenges we face require a sustainable and integrated economic approach not only regionally but also globally. He stressed that more investment in innovation and new technologies is needed to make our defence capabilities more adequate to the increased demands of the international security environment.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry David Sukalinski also attended the event and participated in a panel on Ukraine's recovery. He commented that "Bulgaria supports Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations because we believe that they will lead to a more secure, more prosperous and more united continent. In the words of Dr. David Sukalinski, Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO is not only a matter of solidarity, but also of Europe's strategic interest. "Our common goal is to help build a sustainable and prosperous Ukraine - a country that is capable not only of defending itself, but also of contributing to the security and stability of Europe," he added.
