Jed Shivers Named to ‘Who’s Who in Budgeting & Finance’ by City & State

Stony Brook University Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration Jed Shivers is featured by City & State in its "Who's Who in Budgeting & Finance" for 2024.

City & State recognized highly effective experts who are "helping their companies, organizations and agencies crunch the numbers, balance the books and generate revenue." These professionals come from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and represent corporations, advocacy groups and multiple branches of government.

Shivers joined Stony Brook in July 2022 and is responsible for managing financial, administrative, and facilities operations, helping to guide the financial direction for the University as it advances its institutional mission of education, research, and service. His portfolio includes Budget, Financial Planning and Analysis; HR; Enterprise Risk Management; IT; Finance and Facilities & Services.

Shivers holds a Bachelor of Science from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. His prior experience includes institutions such as the University of North Dakota, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the University of California.

Shivers was instrumental in analyzing and manipulating a short and long-term proforma model that defined Stony Brook's financial position as the anchor institution for the Climate Solutions Center on Governors Island. Examining the necessary financing and operating models of a 30-year plan that included development funding, long term debt, and other capital sources, Jed worked with members of NYC government, the Trust for Governors Island, and Partners of the NY Climate Exchange to present varying assumptions and position The Exchange and its affiliates/partners to effectively negotiate. He has also served as an Executive Sponsor for Stony Brook's ERP implementation.
