On November 19, 2024 at approximately 10:36 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Lochmoor Avenue and Paterson Street for the report of an adult female who had been robbed.

East District General Patrol members attended and located a 21-year-old victim suffering from minor bodily injuries for which she did not require medical attention. A male suspect fled prior to the arrival of police.

Through their investigation, officers determined the victim was followed by the suspect as she alighted from a bus close to the above-mentioned intersection. Without provocation, the suspect began physically assaulting the victim while demanding her personal property. The assault resulted in the victim falling to the ground and causing her cellular phone to fall from a pocket. The suspect fled with the cellular phone and the victim contacted police.

Officers quickly identified the suspect believed to be involved in the incident and at approximately 3:20 a.m. on November 20, arrested him at his residence without incident.

Alijah William BURTON, 20, of Winnipeg is charged with Robbery.

He was detained in custody.
