16th annual labor rights week successfully concludes in the U.S.

• The event commemorated 20 years of cooperation on labor protection between the Mexican and U.S. governments, ensuring fair and safe working conditions for Mexican workers
• More than 430,000 Mexicans attended 800 events and workshops on labor rights, and 371 potential protection cases were identified and provided with necessary consular assistance

From August 26 to 30, the consular network in the U.S. held the 16th Labor Rights Week (LRW) under the theme "Rights, Health, and Safety for Workers: The Power of Collaboration."

During the week, over 430,000 Mexicans attended more than 800 virtual and in-person events and informational workshops on labor rights. Additionally, around 371 potential protection cases were identified and provided with necessary consular assistance, with follow-up to be conducted.

With the support of 530 participating partners, more than 40 workplace visits were carried out, and 91 agreements with government organizations were maintained and renewed. Consular representatives from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras also participated in preventive events.

Labor Rights Week has become the foremost instrument for preventive and consular protection in labor matters, strengthening the defense and empowerment of workers in the United States. This initiative equips the Mexican community with essential knowledge to assert their labor rights, guard against mistreatment, and advocate for safe conditions in their workplaces, both in rural and urban areas.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acting through the Directorate General of Consular Protection and Strategic Planning and its representations abroad, reaffirms its commitment to continue providing preventive and timely protection to the Mexican community, regardless of their immigration status.
