Donate books to Drake 1L students via BLSA Lending Library

As prices of higher education and educational resources like books increase, one local student organization looks to address the economic disparities some students face. The Drake Black Law Student Association (BLSA) is currently asking for donations of 1L books and materials to provide to students who do not have direct access to funds to purchase them.

"The average cost for a 1L student to rent or buy used books for their first semester is $500, a huge barrier when student loan disbursement does not come until after classes have started," Drake BLSA President and 2026 J.D. Candidate of Drake Law, Karrecia Crawley shares. While Drake's BLSA currently has a select few books within its lending library for 1Ls, they hope to update their collection to better serve a diverse array of economic needs as law school classes continue to grow in diversity.

The ISBA invites all members who can donate books to Drake's Black Law Student Association to visit their Amazon Wishlist for books Drake 1L students require this coming semester.
