Grover Beach PD Hosts Back to School Movie Night, Encourages Participation in National Night Out

The Grover Beach Police Department is excited to announce two upcoming community events: the 2nd Annual Back to School Movie Night on Aug. 2 and National Night Out on Aug. 6. Both are aimed at fostering neighborhood connections and providing family-friendly entertainment.

"Grover Beach is thrilled to support these community events organized by our dedicated Police Department," said Grover Beach Mayor Karen Bright. "Both the Back to School Movie Night and National Night Out not only bring our neighborhoods closer together, but they also offer families an opportunity to enjoy quality time in a safe and welcoming environment."

The Back to School Movie Night will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, on the grass at 16th Street Park, allowing attendees to connect with neighbors and local law enforcement before a screening of "Despicable Me" at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, layers and low chairs for comfort. An adult must accompany all youth under the age of 18.

The City will provide complimentary snacks and beverages and distribute a raffle ticket to each attendee under age of 18. Raffle prizes include new bicycles, backpacks and a special escort to the first day of school by Police Chief Jim Munro! The event will also feature informative public safety displays for residents, especially youth, to connect with officers.

Then, the following Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Grover Beach Police Department invites all residents to participate in National Night Out, a national community-building campaign to promote police-community partnerships.

The City of Grover Beach encourages community members to host and attend neighborhood block parties for National Night Out. Block party registration is free and can be done at www.NATW.org. Send the time and location of your block party to the Grover Beach Police Department by emailing [email protected], and our officers will stop by to visit and deliver some department swag!

"We are extremely excited about these events. Both are at the core of our mission to foster strong neighborhood connections and promote community policing," said Grover Beach Police Chief Jim Munro. "This is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate personal connections between community members and police officers, providing an enjoyable and engaging atmosphere for everyone involved."
