Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures
Interstate 5 and State Routes 99, 140, & 165
MERCED COUNTY - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 99 (SR-99), SR-140, and SR-165 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:
INTERSTATE 5

Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through July 31, 2024.

ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line). Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.

Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Winton Parkway Over-Crossing for utility work beginning Wednesday, July 17, through Friday July 19, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Winton Parkway Over-Crossing for utility work beginning Wednesday, July 17, through Friday, July 19, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. 6:00 a.m.

Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at South Avenue Over-Crossing for utility work beginning Wednesday, July 17, through Friday, July 19, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at South Avenue Over-Crossing for utility work beginning Wednesday, July 17, through Friday, July 19, 2024, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Mission Avenue Over-Crossing for utility work on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Long-term full closure from 5th Street to Fifth Avenue in Gustine for construction work beginning Monday, April 22, 2024, at 6:00 a.m. to Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
STATE ROUTE 165

One-way traffic control from August Avenue to Johnson Avenue for utility work on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Motorists should expect 5-10 minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. Thiswork is scheduled to take place as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or construction related issues.
