When did you first get involved in theatre?

"I first got involved in theatre my eighth-grade year. My middle school was doing Mulan Jr., and I was part of the ensemble. From then on, I discovered my love of performing and I decided to do more productions."

The upcoming performance of Eurydice reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine, Eurydice. What has it been like preparing for this contemporary take on a timeless love story?

"It's been very interesting to compare the classic myth to the play. Considering that, the right emotions and turning points have been a little challenging to find. In the end, I think we've done a great job at finding a good balance."

What life lessons have you learned from your character of Eurydice?

"There have been a lot of things I've learned from playing and exploring Eurydice's character. The biggest one that stands out to me is to always enjoy each moment. One of the biggest things I had to bring to life in the play is how precious each moment is that Eurydice has with herself and her loved ones. It has really made me realize that I should take a step back to appreciate each moment I have. You never know when that moment is going to change."

You and the other performers spend a lot of time together in rehearsals. What are some of your favorite moments from that time leading up to the performances?

"Some of my favorite moments include the beginning of the rehearsal process. Just doing a read-through of the script and finding the key discovery points was super cool for everyone. We all found our own voices and found ways to fit aspects of our own personalities in the play. It was also great to break down each scene to find Sarah Ruhl's vision and each of our interpretations of the script."

In your opinion, what makes the University of Dubuque unique?

"Especially in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, all the professors truly care about their students. They wish nothing but the best and for each student to succeed. Not all universities have that uniqueness to them."
