Beginning Nov. 4, the campus community can donate new, unopened toys to help UToledo's student parents celebrate the holidays with their children.
New, unopened toys can be dropped off at one of the donation sites either Main or Health Science campuses from Monday, Nov. 4, through Friday, Nov. 29. A list of suggested donations and donation locations are available on the Toy Drive webpage.
The Holiday Toy Exchange is scheduled from Monday, Dec. 9, through Friday, Dec. 13. Student parents can register for the Holiday Toy Exchange through Monday, Dec. 2, on the Eberly Center's Toy Drive Registration webpage. There is a Toy Drive volunteer option as well to assist with the donation pickups from both Main and Health Science Campuses.
Last year, the Toy Drive was able to give nearly 100 children toys through the Holiday Toy Exchange, an increase from the 2022 Holiday Toy Exchange when 77 children received toys. This year, the Eberly Center wants to expand the number of children and UToledo student parents helped connected through the Holiday Toy Exchange.
"The Toy Drive is an important annual endeavor for the University's student parents that the Eberly Center is proud to host," said Danielle Lutman, associate director for the Eberly Center. "Every year student parents express their gratitude and share their stories of the positive impact the Toy Drive has on them and their families.
"For our fourth annual Toy Drive, we're looking to continue the growing momentum and further establish this as an important yearly tradition on our campus," Lutman added. "Last year we added a diaper bank and were able to give every family a book and coloring item along with their toys."
