Please be advised that the eastbound lanes of the Commodore Barry Bridge will be closed to traffic for several 20-minute intervals on Wednesday, November 6, Thursday, November 7, and Friday, November 8, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The Commodore Barry Bridge, over 50 years old, requires extensive work to maintain safety and serviceability. With only five lanes compared to the seven on the Ben Franklin and Walt Whitman bridges and six on the Betsy Ross Bridge, lane closures during construction significantly impact drivers using this bridge.
These periodic closures are essential for the operation of a large crane, which requires outriggers to lift steel splice plates to temporary work platforms situated over 120 feet high, near the top of the structure. This is challenging and safety critical work.
Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly and expect potential delays.
Alternate Route: Motorists are encouraged to use the Walt Whitman Bridge as an alternate route to avoid delays.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to maintain and improve our infrastructure.
