NEW: “Democrats just got a false GOP ad taken off the air in a key Ohio race”

Dark-money donors backing Derek Merrin were forced to stop airing an ad in Ohio's 9th Congressional district that blatantly lied about Marcy Kaptur's record.

According to The Morning Digest, the ad falsely claimed that Kaptur "passed 'just one bill in 15 years.'"

Kaptur has written numerous pieces of legislation in the last 15 years that became law, and this year alone she has brought back more than $777 million dollars to the district.

In addition to calling out the ad's lie, the Sandusky Register also pointed out that "because she sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee […] Kaptur often influences legislation by inserting funding for projects in her district."

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
"Derek Merrin is relying on dark-money donors to do his dirty work because he is scared to run on his own record. Merrin supports abortion bans that would jail women and children as young as 13, backs right to work legislation that would weaken the power of unions, and sold out Northwest Ohio to his corrupt, criminal donors. Voters know that he is nothing more than a self-serving politician and aren't interested in his lies."
