Suicide Prevention Hotline Available for Those Suffering During the Holidays

The holidays can be difficult for many people, especially veterans or those who may have lost loved ones. Others may struggle daily with mental health issues. The 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available at any time for counsel and support.

Anyone can call or text 9-8-8 or visit 988lifeline.org for themselves or if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support. This number serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the United States, you can reach a caring, trained counselor who can help.

The 9-8-8 number offers 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing mental health-related distress. That could be:

  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Mental health or substance use crises
  • Emotional distress

Don't suffer alone. If you or someone you know is experiencing mental distress, please contact the crisis hotline at 9-8-8 for support.
