Volusia County has reopened Walkway 3 at Smyrna Dunes Park, which is now rebuilt to better withstand the natural forces of tidal flow and erosion. The previous walkway was dismantled due to safety concerns from non-storm-related erosion. The new walkway has been completely reconstructed for a safer and more resilient visitor experience while enhancing pedestrian access to the beach and jetty.

Smyrna Dunes Park spans 184 acres and features over 2 miles of wide, elevated boardwalks that are both accessible and capped with durable, recycled lumber. Visitors can enjoy a 300-foot accessible fishing pier, dog-friendly swimming areas along the park's river shore, and convenient amenities such as restrooms and picnic pavilions.
