PennDOT to Replace Box Culvert Along Route 2002 in Juniata County

07/17/2024

Clearfield, PA -The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a start date of Thursday, July 25, for a box culvert replacement project along Route 2002 (Miller Hill Road) in Walker Township, Juniata County. The structure spans a tributary of Doe Run approximately two miles northeast of the Village of Mexico and replacing it will improve the overall condition rating from poor to good.

Starting July 25, PennDOT will close the road at the box culvert and implement a detour using Route 2003 (Doe Run Road), Route 3002 (Main Street), and Route 2005 (Center Road). PennDOT anticipated the detour being in place until late August. All work is weather dependent.

Overall work on this project includes the placement of a new precast reinforced concrete box culvert, inlet and outlet sections, approach paving, guide rail installation, and miscellaneous construction. This is a joint effort between PennDOT Juniata County maintenance forces and C.H. & D. Enterprises Inc. of New Stanton, PA. PennDOT crews will complete the excavation work while the contractor will set the box culvert. This project has a contract value of $233,258.
