Volusia County Beach Safety is flying a double red flag on Thursday, Oct. 10, and Friday, Oct. 11 due to extreme marine hazards, rip currents, high tides, and large waves, all of which pose significant risks to the lives of beachgoers. There will be no staffed lifeguard towers and officials urge residents and visitors to stay out of the ocean until conditions improve. For real-time updates on open beach ramps, lifeguard tower locations, and weather conditions, please utilize the Volusia Beaches app.

The Volusia County Emergency Operations Center is activated and fully staffed with relevant emergency support functions engaged to coordinate the response. Residents are encouraged to download the Volusia Emergency Management app, follow Volusia County on social media, subscribe to the county newsletter, and visit www.volusia.org for the latest updates.
