Seeking Public Comment on Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment for Old Harbor Geotechnical Survey

The Alutiiq Tribe of Old Harbor has proposed to conduct a geotechnical drilling survey northwest of Old Harbor on the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge). The project would be conducted between January 1st and April 30th, 2025. This project is in support of the Alutiiq Tribes of Old Harbors Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Permit (FERC) for a hydroelectric facility (Project number 13272).

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) seeking public input on a Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) analyzing the impacts of the geotechnical survey on the Refuge.

The Service is also evaluating the compatibility of this action, as required by agency policy (603 FW 2) and Federal Regulation (50 CFR 25.21). The Service invites interested persons to make comments on the Draft Compatibility Determination (CD) as it affects their interest in the area and how they believe use may affect Refuge purposes.
