Reform Party Statement on Hurricanes Helene and Milton

The Southeastern United States is suffering from the effects of two major hurricanes hitting the region in the past two weeks. Hurricanes Milton and Helene have taken hundreds of lives, uprooted communities, caused tens of billions of dollars in damage, and stretched disaster relief efforts thin. Many people have lost everything, and it will take years for them to rebuild their lives.

Now is the time to rally around those that have been affected, and work as one People, and one Nation, to rebuild.

The national, state and local governments are doing everything in their power to help those in need. The Reform Party supports their efforts and asks everyone to do the same.

At the same time, many nonprofit and charity organizations are involved in disaster relief, and their limited resources are drawing thin. The Reform Party of the United States would like to ask everyone that is able to donate to disaster relief efforts in Florida and the Carolinas. If you are able, the Reform Party also asks people to volunteer to help in relief efforts.

It is important to support reputable disaster relief organizations. For those that are interested in donating, both North Carolina and Florida have disaster relief funds that collect private donations. These organizations are vetted thoroughly by the North Carolina and Florida state governments for credibility, and these organizations are ethically managed. The Reform Party has strong affiliates in these states, and local affiliates support donating to these funds.

While the many work together to do the right thing, there is always a small minority of people that seek to divide. A small group has created misinformation about disaster relief efforts to deceive the public for personal gain. The Reform Party urges everyone to do their research, and find the truth, before repeating hearsay information that hinders recovery efforts.

Please do not put yourself in danger. If you wish to volunteer, please seek out a reputable organization to work with. Many individuals travel to disaster areas and put themselves in danger through lack of know-how, or drain supplies that are collected for disaster victims due to lack of planning. If you wish to help, the Reform Party supports people volunteering through experienced organizations such as the Red Cross or the United Way.

If you are unable to give or volunteer, please pass along useful information about disaster recovery and keep the people affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene in your prayers.
