OCBC Champions the Advancement of Healthcare Innovation through Technology in One Connect Series 2024: Medical Technology Day

Jakarta, Indonesia, 3 July 2024 - PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk (OCBC) in collaboration with OCBC Singapore held One Connect Series 2024: Medical Technology Day, a two-days event that brings together various medical technology companies from Indonesia, Singapore, and China to collaborate and explore partnerships. In this event, companies dive into business matching sessions designed to help them expand and thrive in new markets, taking healthcare innovation into a next level. This event follows the success of its first series in 2023, that had connected various companies in the field of technology.

The event was filled with insightful presentation sessions from experts on case studies, industry knowledges and insights, as well as exhibitions and site visits. Day 1 of the event was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, and Day 2 of the event was attended by the Ambassador of Indonesia to Singapore Suryopratomo and Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment, Ministry of Health/Acting Head of Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), Dr. Dra. L. Rizka Andalusia, Apt., M.Pharm., MARS.

Ambassador of Indonesia to Singapore Suryopratomo said, "This initiative symbolizes the strength of partnership between Indonesia and Singapore, showcasing our joint commitment to harnessing technology for societal advancement, especially in healthcare that is very critical for people's life. With innovations in medical technologies, we hope to see a host of hopeful and exciting possibilities for healthcare and patient care worldwide."

The Ministry of Investment / Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) at the end of 2023 recorded the realization of foreign investment (PMA) of IDR 744 trillion, whereby Singapore and China are among the top five countries who contributed to this trend. This shows tremendous opportunities that can be explored to increase foreign investment in Indonesia.

As a financial institution, OCBC believes in building an ecosystem that not only supports innovation but also ensures that these advancements are accessible to those who need them the most.

Medical technology is one of the core focuses of the health transformation in Indonesia, as Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia has carried out Healthcare Transformation Programs. This program aims to overhaul Indonesia's healthcare system with six main focuses, one of which is to emphasize the importance of health technology to improve healthcare services, including with implementation of electronic medical records and telemedicine to make health services more efficient and accessible.

Rizka Andalusia, Apt., M.Pharm., MARS. said, technology plays a pivotal role in healthcare, including to improve patient outcomes, efficiency, accessibility, and future medical advancements.

"Investment in the health technology does not serve only prospects from a business perspective, but also strengthens Indonesia health resilience and add value to healthcare." She added.

Further emphasizing the broader impact of healthcare innovation, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Republic of IndonesiaSandiaga Uno conveyed that medical technology and creative economy are increasingly interlinked, fostering a symbiotic relationship that drives innovation, economic growth, and the development of new, creative solutions to health challenges.

One Connect Series was first held in 2023 with cross-industry technology companies from China and Indonesia explored partnerships in technology. The event was held in two days, filled with business matching activities, presentation sessions, and exhibitions, attended by up to 30 technology companies from China, Singapore, and Indonesia, with more than 50 representatives. The event was also attended by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Republic of Indonesia Sandiaga Uno.
