Troopers find man impaired and in stolen vehicle

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 8:47 a.m., New York State Police at Sidney were dispatched to Jericho Road in the town of Bainbridge to a suspicious male and vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence where he didn't belong.

While attempting to interview the uncooperative driver, Troopers smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage. After an investigation, he was identified as Jacob T. Roach, age 28, of Frankfort, NY and arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported by Sidney EMS to A.O. Fox Hospital to be checked out then released back to the custody of the New York State Police.

After a further investigation, Troopers discovered that the vehicle he was in had been stolen from a lot in Binghamton, NY.

Roach was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the third degree, class "D" felony
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree, misdemeanor
  • Obstructing Emergency Medical Services, misdemeanor
  • Driving While Intoxicated, misdemeanor

Roach was transported to the Chenango County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
