The "Art in Public Places Exhibition" is a curated, eclectic exhibit of creative and thought-provoking works of art that celebrate the city's extraordinary character and unique perspectives. The free exhibition is open to the public Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed holidays) in the Mayor's Gallery at the Historic Fifth Street School, located at 401 S. Fourth St. in downtown Las Vegas. Free parking is generally available at the Historic Fifth Street School while visiting the gallery; there is also a public parking garage across the street. The final day to see the 35-piece exhibit will be Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024.

Artists in the show include Bobbie Ann Howell, Brandie Vincek, Chase McCurdy, David Milton, Diane Zizka, Evan Dent, Geneva Marquez, Gig Depio, Giovanni Morales, Harold Bradford, Jackie Cavaiani, Jeff Fulmer, Jenny Baham, Jose Bellver, Joseph Watson, Kimberly Johnson, Linda Alterwitz, Lolita Develay, Lyssa Park, Meghan Dragon, Michael Dodson, Mikayla Whitmore, Montana Black, Nancy Good, Orlando Montenegro-Cruz, Pasha Rafat, Sara Jean Odam, Sean Russell, Simone Russ, Susanna Herrmann, Taylor Pierce, Trevor Ganske, Valentin Yordanov, Wayne Littlejohn and Zully Mejia.

A call for artists was issued that closed in February 2024 with 118 artist submissions. The pieces were selected for exhibit based on artistic excellence, qualifications of the artists and the potential for the artwork to enrich and diversify the city's art collection. The city has elected to purchase 11 of the artworks exhibited. Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Art Collection and Galleries Manager Darren Johnson curated this exhibition.
