Health Confianza is helping organizations create community health worker apprenticeship programs

UT Health San Antonio's South Texas Community Health Workers Workforce Preparedness Collaborative (STCWPC) celebrated its first class of community health worker (CHW) apprentices during National Registered Apprenticeship Week.

Established in 2022, the program integrates public health competencies into CHW training, providing stipends and technical support. Community First Health Plans was the first to graduate apprentices from the program, with STCWPC seeking more employers to collaborate with in 2025.

Employers interested in creating their own CHW apprenticeship programs should contact the collaborative by mid-February 2025.
