FINLAND: The Ideal4Green project aims to address climate change and the global shift towards sustainable energy systems. It focuses on developing and integrating microgrids to manage the variety of renewable resources and achieving decarbonization targets. The project aligns with the European Commission's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050 by empowering energy communities and optimizing local supply and demand.

The project involves a network of universities, industries, and research institutes that will train 15 doctoral candidates in various aspects of microgrid planning, design, operation, control, and impact assessment. Two of these doctoral candidates will be located in Vaasa to work in close co-operation with Danfoss and University of Vaasa.

The candidates will receive a mix of academic and industry experiences, including practical training and networking opportunities. They will learn advanced technical skills, improve their communication and problem-solving abilities, and develop a deep understanding of sustainable energy systems.

The program focuses on developing and integrating microgrids

Our preliminary topic for the project is analyzing grid requirements for large (1 GW and bigger) electrolyser facilities. At Danfoss we want to study how the grid connection of large electrolyser units needs to be managed in the future, what are the grid requirements for these units and how the units will evolve in the future.

Ideal4Green project is granted Marie Sklodowska-Curie Industrial Management Doctorate Program funding from EU, and Danfoss is participating in the project as a supporting partner. We are excited to see what the doctoral candidates find out about the status and the future perspective of grid requirements, and connections when connecting to large electrolyser units.
