Altoona professor to lead Alumni Association’s Civil War Battlefields tour
Travel back in time to the 1800s with the Penn State Alumni Association's Civil War Battlefields Tour.
Taking place from Sept. 7 through 11, 2025, the tour will be led by Jared Frederick, assistant teaching professor of history at Penn State Altoona.

ALTOONA, Pa. - Travel back in time to the 1800s with the Penn State Alumni Association's Civil War Battlefields Tour.
Taking place from Sept. 7 through 11, 2025, the tour will be led by Jared Frederick, assistant teaching professor of history at Penn State Altoona.
This immersive journey will take you through iconic sites of the American Civil War including Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, the Antietam Battlefield in Maryland, and several sections of the Gettysburg Battlefield in Pennsylvania. Each site visit provides an opportunity to remember and reflect upon our nation's history.
The tour group size is capped at 40. Registration is available online.
The Penn State Alumni Association has offered escorted tours for more than 40 years. Traveling with the Alumni Association allows you to venture with like-minded travelers on authentic and meaningful tours accompanied by knowledgeable guides, naturalists, and historians.
