Cassidy Announces $5.5 Million for Louisiana in Hurricane, Seawater Intrusion Relief

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $5,494,687.67 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Hurricane Laura, Hurricane Ida, and seawater intrusion relief.

"Louisiana is resilient," said Dr. Cassidy. "This funding plays a crucial role in rebuilding our communities, strengthening our defenses against future hurricanes, and ensuring access to clean water for everyone."

Grant Awarded Recipient Project Description
$1,246,163.66 Plaquemines Parish This grant will provide federal funding for emergency protective measures as a direct result of seawater intrusion at the Port Sulphur Water Treatment Plant.
$1,282,647.63 Plaquemines Parish This grant will provide federal funding for emergency protective measures as a direct result of seawater intrusion at the Boothville Water Treatment Plant.
$1,309,318.19 City of Lake Charles This grant will provide federal funding for emergency protective measures as a direct result of Hurricane Laura.
$1,656,558.19 Office of Risk Management This grant will provide federal funding for permanent repairs to state agency buildings as a result of Hurricane Ida.
