On November 12 in Stockholm Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a tête-à-tête meeting with Andreas Norlén, Speaker of Riksdag of Sweden. The tête-à-tête meeting was followed by an enlarged meeting with the participation of the Deputy-Speakers and Members of Parliament representing various political parties.
The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations and the Armenia-EU agenda, as well as regional developments.
"I am glad to return to Stockholm and continue our discussions on expanding the Armenia-Sweden political agenda, advancing democratic reforms, as well as to see the results of our jointly developed programs and outline new perspectives", emphasized Minister Mirzoyan at the beginning of the meeting. In this context, the importance of active inter-parliamentary contacts was also highlighted, including through the friendship groups in the Parliaments of both countries.
At the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the efforts made in the direction of the development of a new Armenia-EU partnership agenda, and Sweden's active involvement in this process based on democratic principles, common values , and mutual interest in bringing Armenia closer to the EU.
In response to questions from the attendees, Minister Mirzoyan presented the recent developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including efforts towards border delimitation and the signing of the peace treaty. In the broader context of promoting regional connectivity, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of implementing the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia as a guarantee for economic development and, consequently, for ensuring regional stability.
Touching upon the efforts made by Armenia to overcome various challenges, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of strong commitment to democratic values and close cooperation with like-minded partners in the continuous strengthening of relevant institutions.
