The Newton Police are investigating a case where five individuals stole credit card information from people who had gotten gas at the Git & Go station located at 801 1st Ave W. On August 27, 2024, with the assistance of the Iowa Department of Agriculture, two suspected Bluetooth skimming devices were found on the pumps that the victims had used. The skimmer might have been in place since late July 2024. The affected pumps have been taken out of service as the investigation continues. People who have fueled at this location are advised to monitor their financial transactions and contact their bank immediately if they notice any suspicious activity.
