TAMPA, FL. (December 17, 2024) - - The Tampa Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that took place early Tuesday morning at a residence in the 1700 block of W. St. Joseph St. Investigators do not believe this is a random act.

Just before 5:45 am Tuesday, Tampa Police responded to the report of gunshots heard coming from a home on St. Joseph St. Officers quickly arrived to find an adult white female, in her mid-30s, with a gunshot wound and immediately began providing life-saving measures.

The suspect was no longer on scene.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries.

While early in the investigation, evidence suggests the victim and suspect were known to each other. Detective are currently working to determine what led up to the shooting and identify who was involved.
