AVMA recognized for workforce wellbeing support

AVMA's dedicated support for workforce wellbeing has earned the Association the designation of "Change Maker" from the National Academy of Medicine (NAM).

Change Makers "work to institutionalize wellbeing as a long-term value," according to the academy. The Change Maker Campaign, started in October 2023, aims to "spark a national movement to support health workforce wellbeing."

The AVMA is committed to advancing wellbeing across the entire veterinary community and in 2020 became the first veterinary organization in the nation to join NAM's Action Collaborative on Clinician Wellbeing and Resilience.

Wellbeing resources for veterinary professionals, teams

The wellbeing of veterinary professionals is a top priority for the AVMA, and the Association provides a broad range of wellbeing tools and programs to all in the profession. These include training to identify and help colleagues at risk for suicide, a toolkit to deter and respond to cyberbullies, two CE certificate programs focused specifically on workplace wellbeing, and more. Access them all at avma.org/Wellbeing.

The AVMA is also a lead partner in Journey for Teams, which provides free learning modules to foster healthy workplaces by promoting cultures of belonging, trust, and psychological safety.

This November 7-9, the AVMA is bringing the profession together for the first-ever Diversity, Education, Inclusion, and Wellbeing (DEIW) Summit. There's still time to attend this groundbreaking meeting in Atlanta. Learn more at avma.org/DEIWSummit.
