October 18, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Man in Drugging, Sexual Assault of Nine Women, and Murder in LA County

Michael DiGiorgio is charged with drugging and sexually assaulting nine women from 2019-2021, resulting in one of their deaths

LOS ANGELES COUNTY - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Michael DiGiorgio is charged with allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting nine women at his Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach homes between 2019 and 2021. One of the women died by the alleged drugging.

"I extend my deepest sympathy to the victims, whose lives have been irrevocably changed and the life lost by the alleged brutal acts of the offender," said District Attorney Gascón. "Our office is committed to holding him accountable for the pain and trauma he has inflicted. The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority, and we will not tolerate this type of predatory behavior in our communities. I encourage anyone with information related to these incidents or any other incidents regarding Mr. DiGiorgio to report it to the Redondo Beach Police Department."

Michael DiGiorgio (DOB: 12/16/73) is charged in case 24CJCF06442 with one count of murder; three felony counts of rape by use of a drug; two felony counts of sodomy by use of a drug; five felony counts of sexual penetration by use of a drug; one felony count of oral copulation by use of a drug; one felony count of forcible rape; two felony counts of forcible sexual penetration; one felony count of rape of an unconscious person; and two felony counts of furnishing a controlled substance.

It is further alleged that during the furnishing of a controlled substance, DiGiorgio caused great bodily injury.

Between May 2019 and November 2021, DiGiorgio allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted nine women at his homes in the cities of Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. One of the women reportedly died because of the drugging.

DiGiorgio is scheduled to be arraigned today in Dept. 30 of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

If convicted as charged, DiGiorgio faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The case is being prosecuted by LADA's Sex Crimes Division and investigated by the Redondo Beach Police Department's Special Investigations Unit.
