FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YUBA/SUTTER COUNTIES - Caltrans is notifying motorists of an upcoming closure on the 5th Street bridge connecting Yuba City and Marysville. The closure will be on Saturday, October 12 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for scheduled maintenance. Both Yuba City and Marysville Public Works Departments will be conducting minor maintenance activities, including cleaning up debris, maintaining signage, and servicing traffic-calming and crash cushion devices.

The maintenance is part of a routine effort to keep the 5th Street bridge in safe working condition and support the American Public Works Association Project of the Year: Eastbound on 5th Street Bridge Traffic Calming and Safety Enhancements Project, a joint effort between the two cities.

With the closure of the 5th Street bridge, all traffic will be detoured onto the10th Street bridge (State Route 20), leading to increased traffic volumes along SR-20. Drivers traveling northbound on State Route 70 (SR-70) and exiting west onto 3rd Street will need to follow the designated detour provided by the City of Marysville. Caltrans advises motorists to expect delays and allow extra time for travel along SR-20 during the bridge closure.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.

Caltrans issues construction and road condition updates on X @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic information, click on Caltrans' QuickMap quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
