Sesquicentennial series: Celebrating trailblazing women in the law

To celebrate The Iowa State Bar Association's 150th anniversary this year, volunteers in collaboration with the ISBA's Sesquicentennial Committee created a slideshow resource titled "Celebrating Trailblazing Women in the Law" to recognize milestones in the legal profession achieved by women in Iowa.

For example, Iowa is known nationwide for producing the first licensed woman attorney, Arabella Mansfield. However, did you know that Arabella did not actually practice law? The first woman to practice law in the state was attorney Judith Ellen Foster in Clinton. Discover more interesting facts by viewing the slideshow.
