Staten Island Man Arrested for Abducting Ex-Girlfriend at Knifepo...

Staten Island, New York - On August 11, 2024, Troopers from Troop NYC arrested William Vasquez of Staten Island, NY, age 41, for the following charges: Unlawful Imprisonment in the 1^st Degree, a Class E Felony, Criminal Contempt in the 1^st Degree, a Class E Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4^th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, Menacing in the 2^nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Fugitive of Justice, a CPL charge.

Troopers were on patrol in Staten Island when they were dispatched to be on the lookout for a vehicle occupied by a female subject who was abducted at knifepoint by her ex-boyfriend, William Vasquez, and traveling to New York from Lackawana County, PA.

Troopers were able to locate the suspect's vehicle on the Goethals Bridge and conduct a felony traffic stop, arresting Vasquez without incident.

Vazquez, of Staten Island, was transported to the NYPD 121st Precinct for processing and then lodged at Staten Island Central Booking. He is currently awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
