Plein Air Art Festival has scholarships available

FESTIVAL IN YARMOUTH MAKES PAINTING ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

ART ACTIVITIES FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY: SUPPORT FROM MAINE ARTS COMMISION ENABLES EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN 10 DAY EVENT, AUGUST 14-24

Yarmouth, ME-Artascope Studios has announced it has been awarded financial support from the Maine Arts Commission to offer free painting and drawing workshops at the annual Plein Air Art Festival, taking place from August 14 to 24 in Yarmouth, Maine.

The Plein Air Art Festival is entering its fifth year celebrating art and community outdoors. This ten day festival offers something for everyone, whether you want to try your hand at making art, or just want to enjoy meeting artists and seeing them in action.

Free activities include collage card making at the Yarmouth Farmers Market, Plein Air Art Tours in various locations throughout Yarmouth, and an all-day Fine Art and Craft Fair on Main Street to be held Saturday August 24th. "We've brought together a fabulous collection of artists and makers," said the Festival's Executive Director, Catherine Bickford. "Creating art helps us tap into our humanity and doing it in community brings us closer together. It is a great way to meet new people and get to know each other through a moment of inspiration. Even if you've never tried your hand at drawing or painting before, this is a simple way to start." Many painting, drawing, and printmaking workshops are being offered for a fee, with scholarships available. See below for a list of workshops that have scholarship opportunities available.
