The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia comprising Tijana Davidovac, Sanja Jefic Brankovic and Ugljesa Mrdic, took part in the World Antifascist Parliamentary Forum held on 4 and 5 November in Caracas, Venezuela, and gathering about 300 parliamentarians from 70 states.
Our delegation successfully participated in the Parliamentary Forum and voiced Serbia's official positions on the topics discussed. On behalf of our delegation, Ugljesa Mrdic said that the Republic of Serbia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela have enjoyed many years of open friendly relations and that Serbia would always respond to an invitation to a gathering propagating antifascist ideas.
He stressed that in the 20th century the Serbian people has greatly suffered from those who promote fascism, neo-fascism and similar ideologies.
It was highlighted that the Republic of Serbia, under the leadership of President Aleksandar Vucic, pursues a policy of promotion and conduct of a policy of peace and stability, a policy that promotes antifascist and antinazist policies.
At the Parliamentary Forum's closing ceremony, the parliamentarians were greeted by the President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro who underlined the importance of promoting antifascist ides.
On day one of their stay in Venezuela, the National Assembly delegation signed the Book of Condolences in the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Caracas, commemorating the tragedy on the Novi Sad Railway Station that claimed 14 lives.
