Stony Brook University Magazine Honored with CASE Circle of Excellence Award

Stony Brook University Magazine, produced by the Office of Marketing and Communications, was honored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in its 2024 Circle of Excellence Awards, advancement's premier global awards program recognizing outstanding work in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising, and marketing.

The Magazine, issues 10 and 11, earned a Bronze award for Design in the Periodicals and Magazines category.

From the judges: "The images are really great and elevate the stories, with bright colors adding energy throughout. The photography, including photos taken by the president, effectively tells the narrative and contributes to a beautiful publication. The variation in typography and layouts keeps the reader engaged. Overall, it's a well-done and visually appealing publication with excellent use of resources and staffing."

The print magazine is designed to bring Stony Brook's vision to life in a bold way, showing the passion and impact of a world-class university. Two 48-page issues are published each year, in spring and fall, with a digital companion magazine and video extras to complement the content, which is developed around a specific theme.

The premier accolades for educational advancement, the Circle of Excellence Awards celebrate colleges, universities, and schools whose talented staff advanced their institutions with ingenuity and resourcefulness. These creative, inspiring projects impact educational communities and transform lives around the globe.

The Awards recognized 486 winners from 4,224 global entries from 28 countries, carefully selected by a panel of 440 volunteer judges. Winners are chosen for overall quality, innovation, use of resources, and the impact on the institution or its communities, such as alumni, parents, students, faculty, and staff.

CASE is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
