Siena Alumnus to Take the Reins in Development

Aug 9, 2024

An alumnus who has served for almost two decades as a highly successful regional non-profit leader is coming home to Siena.

Anthony Marino '97 has been named the College's new vice president for development and alumni engagement. His appointment is effective August 19.

Marino comes to Siena from the American Cancer Society, where he has served in various leadership capacities in the organization's highly profitable Northeast Region for the last 18 years, most recently as its executive vice president. As a philanthropy executive, he excels in relationship management and the development of strategic plans and alliances to achieve fundraising and engagement goals, according to Siena President Chuck Seifert, Ph.D.

"As a dedicated Siena alumnus and supporter, Anthony knows well the mission and traditions of the College, and has a deep passion for translating that sense of dedication to building and fostering effective and cohesive teams," said Seifert. "He is well-known personally and professionally throughout our region for his proven ability to inspire philanthropy and help teams reach their goals."

Marino earned his Siena B.S. in marketing/management.

"It is such an honor to be joining the team at Siena College," he said. "Having the chance to work with President Seifert, the faculty and staff, and our alumni family is such an incredible opportunity. My four years as a student here were a very special time for me, and I look forward to helping ensure that future generations can experience and embrace the Siena tradition."

Seifert also thanked Dave Smith '79 for his decades of steadfast service to the College's mission, and noted that there will be a chance for the campus community to celebrate his career this fall (details to follow).

"I would also like to commend Siena's development and alumni engagement team members for their hard work and dedication to ensuring that alumni and donors carry on their commitment to helping Siena educate new generations of servant leaders," said Seifert.
