Firearm Recovered During Traffic Stop in Roxbury

At about 12:30 AM, on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested 19-year-old Sean Blackwell, of Boston, and 21-year-old Elijah Derosa-Hampton, of Bridgewater, MA, during a traffic stop conducted at 150 Warren St., Roxbury.

While Officers were on patrol in Roxbury, they observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a red light and obstruct a crosswalk at the intersection of Warren St. and Whiting St. Officers activated their emergency lights and siren and conducted a traffic stop at 150 Warren St.

An Officer exited his cruiser and as he approached on foot, he observed the driver, later identified as Elijah Derosa-Hampton, appear to be attempting to hide or conceal something. Officers approached the vehicle and observed the driver as well as a passenger, later identified as Sean Blackwell.

Officers investigated the occupants and the vehicle resulting in the recovery of a firearm inside Blackwell's pants. District B-2 detectives determined the firearm to be a Smith & Wesson (M&P 9 Shield) with one (1) 9mm round in the chamber and a magazine capacity with seven (7) rounds.

Additionally, a query was conducted on both individuals and revealed that Derosa-Hampton had an active warrant for his arrest.

Sean Blackwell was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License (2nd Offense), Carrying a Firearm Without a License (2nd Offense), and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Elijah Derosa-Hampton was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for an arrest warrant for the charge of Assault & Battery. Additionally Derosa-Hampton was issued a Mass Uniform Citation for Failure to Stop at a Red Light, Crosswalk Violation, and No Inspection Sticker.
