Officers awarded for saving man’s life

Please join NCPD in congratulating Officers Lucas Searles and Andrew Marshall, the Life Saving Award recipients for August 2024. On August 4, the officers responded to the Family Dollar on University Boulevard for a possible suicidal person.

The officers located the subject on a nearby street. He threatened to take his own life with a razor blade. Officer Searles kept the subject's attention. When the male put the razor to his wrist, Officer Marshall deployed his taser, effectively bringing a possible life-or-death situation to an end.

The subject thanked the officers for saving his life. It was a perfect example of great teamwork to avoid a possible tragic outcome!
